Jigsaws: Global Dating & Wedding Customs

These activities teach students about dating and wedding customs in different countries. First, students read about one country's custom, taking notes on a chart. Then, they jigsaw with their classmates to learn about the other countries' customs, completing the chart with their notes. Next, students give advice based off of their notes, ending the class with a vocabulary quiz over the topic. For the next class, students watch wedding scenes from movies and write a compare/contrast paragraph between the movie clips and their own culture. Students practice all skills.
