English Speaking Nation: Secondary Teacher Training (ESN:STT) is a program of the Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan, implemented by American Councils for International Education in close cooperation with the Ministry of Public Education (MoPE).
The Minister of Public Education Sherzod Shermatov noted that, “English language is one of the international languages. As Uzbekistan is trying to integrate more to the international community the mission of improving the English language knowledge is crucial than ever. Knowledge of English language has utmost importance for building the bright future for our youth and for them to be able to compete more effectively in the global job market. ESN:STT is the first step to achieve this goal”.
ESN:STT is focused on improving the skills of the school pupils and their knowledge by retraining more than 15,000 secondary school English teachers from across the country, and over 1,000 teacher trainers to use teaching and in-service training practices that improve student language learning.
