• Authentic Materials: Myths

    Students read about and listen to myths from various countries. They answer comprehension questions and main idea Wh-Q questions. They then write a script for an Uzbek myth and perform it for their classmates, school, and community. All materials can be accessed here.

  • Interactive Lessons for Multilevel Classes: Food

    All classes have students with different English language levels. These materials about food are useful for such a situation. Students begin class by using descriptive adjectives to guess different food with their partner. Then, students take notes on the eating habits of families in nine different countries. Afterward, students analyze their notes and make conclusions based off of them. Lastly, students draw a picture representing the eating habits of an average Uzbek family.   • Jigsaws: Global Dating & Wedding Customs

    These activities teach students about dating and wedding customs in different countries. First, students read about one country's custom, taking notes on a chart. Then, they jigsaw with their classmates to learn about the other countries' customs, completing the chart with their notes. Next, students give advice based off of their notes, ending the class with a vocabulary quiz over the topic. For the next class, students watch wedding scenes from movies and write a compare/contrast paragraph between the movie clips and their own culture. Students practice all skills.   • Secondary School Lesson Plans

    These five lesson plans correspond with the themes and skills in the English workbooks produced by the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. For Grade 8, there are two lesson plans: the first lesson plan, worksheet, and audio file are about Earth Day, which connects to the unit on the Environment. The second lesson plan, worksheets, ppts, and audio/visual files are about wedding and dating in different countries, which corresponds with the unit about traditions. For Grade 10, the two lesson plans with worksheets and a video clip, are about the advantages and disadvantages of online learning which aligns with the unit on IT Skills. For Grade 11, the lesson plan, worksheet, video clip, and ppt focus on plagiarism, the topic of Unit 8. All the materials can be accessed here.
